Demographic Online Conference successfully carried out –
German Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Friedrich personally took part in the OpenSpace-Online® Conference

[June 14, 2012] The Demographic Online Conference on the topic of demographic change that was carried out using OpenSpace-Online® conference technology was an issue of great importance for German Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich. On behalf of all the event partners, the Minister himself personally welcomed the group of almost 100 participants made up primarily of mayors, administrative authorities and demographics experts.

At the opening of the four-hour conference, German Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Friedrich stated, “Those responsible at the municiple level best know the status of the situation in their locality. Only together can we master the challenges of demographic change. Today's online conference shows great creative potential for finding concrete solutions in the municipalities as well as the need the players have to share their experiences. I thank all those who have taken part for their commitment and for the open discussion.”

Following the welcoming address and 30 minutes of introductions, German Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Friedrich passed the “baton” on to the participants, who with their knowledge and ideas were the focus of our online conference. In just four hours, a wealth of knowledge made up of ideas, questions, experiences and cases was gathered from almost 1500 contributions. 39 current topics, brought to the “agenda wall” by the participants, made for a diverse, highly topical workshop agenda based on the conference theme. All concerns, questions and ideas were able to be addressed. Nothing got lost by the wayside. 37 brief records were compiled to which the participants could add new ideas and supplementary information. New contacts were made and the first appointments were booked. This conference methodology provides an open and solution-oriented exchange and working process that at the same time supports the increasingly important “media literacy and self-organization” skills for dealing with challenging topics. At the end of the OpenSpace-Online® real-time conference, a detailed summary of more than 100 pages complete with contact details was immediately available to all participants.

The Demographic Online Conference was carried out by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior (Bundesministerium des Innern in cooperation with the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (Deutschen Städte- und Gemeindebund, in collaboration with OpenSpace-Online GmbH and with the support of the German Association of District Councils (Deutscher Landkreistag and the German Association of Cities (Deutscher Städtetag

[October 24, 2006] OpenSpace-Online® belongs to the "Top 10 World Changer 2006" Award winner! The jury’s nomination text regarding OpenSpace-Online:

The "do-it-yourself" OpenSpace-Online E- Participation Real-Time Methodology is a powerful philosophy that has the potential to become one of the most earth shifting Internet meeting and conferencing methods in society, politics, education and other fields. OpenSpace-Online was developed by Change Facilitator Gabriela Ender and her team in Germany (1999-2002). The easy to use innovation enables fast collaboration, knowledge-sharing, problem solving and results-oriented dialogs about urgent topics for small and large groups in real-time without ’human’ online moderators. During the virtual-led and structured working process all participants are equal. It also bridges value-gaps between online and offline collaboration / participation in a wonderful unique way.

For the final selection PoliticsOnline and the World E-Gov Forum invited people from all over the world to review the 20 finalists and to electronically vote for the Top Politics & Internet World Changer of 2006. Among the finalists there were many very large online-portals, online-magazines with several million members and users. Even the president of South Korea was one of the 20 nominees. Many people, networks and organizations worldwide supported our nomination and voted for us, forwarded information about the poll to others and crossed their fingers for us. More than 18.000 votes got us into the Top 10 World Changer Award. At this point HUGE THANK YOU to so many people from all over the world. We are very GRATEFUL!
